The
following are actual questions presented to us by users of our program.
Perhaps they will help you at some point.
Q. I've done
a repair on a dresser top but the color is all wrong. What do I
do if I don't like it?
A. You can start over by "erasing" your coloring. Lightly
wipe the color away with a little bit of thinner or blush eraser
on the tip of a rag.
Take care not to affect the area around your repair. You don't want
to make the project any bigger than you have to.
Q. My grain
lines look like racing stripes. Now what?
A. You need to practice on a scrap
piece of wood or paper. If you need really fine lines, pull some
of the bristles out of the end of your brush. Then take care not
to let the bristles bend as you draw the lines. Practice on scrap
until you get the effect then return to the piece at hand.
Q. I remounted
a loose spring as shown in the video, but the springs keep going
sideways?
A. The springs need to be fastened to on another. Typically sofas
are made with a heavy gauge wire fastened to each "S"
spring with a special clip. If this has come loose or is gone, there
are several possible solutions:
1. Purchase the clips from our catalog
and tighten them on each spring with pliers.
2. Use special rubber bands to fasten each spring to the next. These
are also in our product catalog.
3. If time is a factor, you can use your button twine to tie each
spring. Start with a good knot around the first spring. Then go
to the next, wrapping it several times and tying a knot. Go on to
the next spring with one continuous piece of string. This will keep
any one spring from going astray. You may want to do this across
the tops and bottoms of the springs for added strength.
Q. I need
a replacement recliner mechanism, but there's no label anywhere.
How can I order the part?
A. As long as you know the make,
which should be recorded by your store, you're in luck. Flip the
chair over, extend the leg rest and take a picture. Send the photo
to the customer service department of the manufacturer with your
request. It's a good idea to follow up with a phone call.
